Materials Development and qualification are crucial for the successful and wide adoption of AM not only in established industries like Commercial Aviation and Automotive but also in several cutting edge and emerging technologies and industries such as space, hypersonics, light-weighting, and electrification. However, materials development and qualification are known as one of the most expensive and time-consuming parts in the entire AM ecosystem. In this talk, we are presenting a materials development roadmap at Morf3D to support our growing customer demands and requirements, as well as a concept of an accelerated and data-informed ecosystem to reduce the cost and time of materials qualification in the laser powder bed fusion process. We will bring some examples from the prior works, and how using a data-informed approach accelerates materials development and reduces the qualification costs.
